Mission: to advance the health of the people of Wisconsin by supporting medical education and health initiatives.

2019 grant awards announced

Thousands of people throughout Wisconsin benefit directly from physician-championed health initiatives and programs funded by Foundation grants each year. For 2019, the Foundation has awarded a total of $75,074 in grants, more than $18,000 of which was donated during the special appeal at last year’s Foundation Fundraising Dinner and Silent Auction.

Without the donations from that special appeal earmarked for programs addressing mental and behavioral health issues in Wisconsin, the Foundation would not have been able to fund the expansion of the Strong Baby Sanctuary program through Columbia-St. Mary’s Foundation, which will serve at-risk expectant mothers in Milwaukee and Southeast Wisconsin.

Special appeal donations made at last year’s Foundation fundraiser are also funding a Street Medicine Team working with the homeless population in Madison, a garden program aimed at mitigating adverse childhood experiences in La Crosse County and safety care training on preventing and managing behavioral challenges for a school that specializes in atypical learners in the Racine and Kenosha area.

These grants support efforts in local communities that complement the policy and advocacy work of the Wisconsin Medical Society. By addressing complex health issues from different angles and expanding on what works, we magnify our impact toward improved, long-term health outcomes.

The Foundation’s Grant Committee and Board are dedicated to supporting programs that will most effectively bring to life our mission of advancing the health of the people of Wisconsin. Join your colleagues at our 2019 Fundraising Dinner and Silent Auction on April 5 and be a part of supporting health initiatives next year.
